Knowing what information to seek after a sudden, in-custody or arrest-related death and then knowing how to present the information is vital to the success of not only the investigation, but also is vital to managing municipal, agency, and officer risk. During this action-packed program learners will work through actual excited delirium, agitated, arrest-related, and sudden, in-custody death events so that best practices can be identified, while also highlighting recurring deficiencies. Case studies show that many investigators and/or detectives (i.e., criminal, civil, administrative) often do not know what specific or technical questions to ask in excited delirium and/or agitated chaotic event cases, or in cases where electronic control devices (ECD) were deployed and a sudden death followed, what information to identify and then obtain, and how to write an investigative summary that is not only informative and conclusive, but also will provide others (e.g., Agency Director, District Attorney, Medical Examiner, etc.) with the information needed to make informed decisions about training, policy, discipline, and/or prosecution.
